Rapid Prototyping & 3D Printing
3D Printing is any of various additive manufacturing processes used to make a three-dimensional object. In 3D printing, successive layers of material are laid down under computer control. These objects can be of almost any shape or geometry and are produced from a 3D CAD model or other electronic data sources.
These parts are usually used as prototypes to aid in the design process of new products for a wide variety of industry applications.
Typical 3D Printing Processes:
- Light Polymerised: SLA (Stereolithography), Inkjet printer systems like the Objet PolyJet
- Extrusion: FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)
- Granular: SLS (Selective Laser Sintering), DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering)
